Shopping
So we have gotten pretty established with our business now. We’ve made SO many improvements since the start. With each change, it feels SO MUCH BETTER. We’ve installed our custom made shelving, we bought a commercial immersion blender (my old kitchen one finally bit the dust), a frame was built so pouring soap became so much easier. Then in December of 2019 we had to get more efficient with shopping.
Something has happened with our supply chain in this country, because all of a sudden I had trouble getting my supplies. Shea butter was out of stock for months. I literally had less than 10 pounds when I finally got my last shipment in! Just last week I did an inventory of my oils and when I placed the order to build up inventory, two were out of stock! So last December I decided to start to purchase enough of my supplies to last a year. First it was researching bottles. Then I did finally find my shea butter. Recently I was down to the last bag of lye, so it was time to make a run to Minneapolis with the Prius!
I’ve gotten so many funny looks as we pull things out of our car. You see I’ve had a Prius since they were first introduced by Toyota. It was like they designed a car just for me! I’m on my 4th Prius now, and with the ability to fold down the seats to enlarge the “trunk”, there is just nothing like it!
So in this picture, you will see 200 pounds of lye, 200 pounds of lard, just under 200 pounds of olive oil, 6 canisters of baking soda (for the bath bombs) and actually the commercial immersion blender is in this load. What you won’t believe is that we added a child’s bike to this load at our next stop!! We know how to load our Prius!
So we have plenty of product to make all of your favorites!!
You can find us at the Maple Grove farmers market now on Thursday’s from 3-7 PM.
